The Sunday of the Word of God, declared by Pope Francis in His Apostolic Letter, "Aperuit Illis" is to be devoted to the celebration, study and dissemination of the word of God.
Instituted to be celebrated on the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time every year since the year 2020, it will be celebrated on the weekend of 23rd January 2022 this year.
As various communities will mark this Sunday with a certain solemnity in a significant way, Pope Francis encourages that in the Eucharistic celebration the sacred text be enthroned, in order to focus the attention of the assembly on the normative value of God's word. (cf. Aperuit Illis, 3)
